Special Projects Coordinator

As Special Project Coordinator since 2016, Debbie Hime oversees and manages numerous community development programs and other economic development initiatives to promote tourism and community partnerships in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.

Debbie directs the Town’s branding and marketing efforts, including the Town’s Strategic Marketing Plan and social media outlets, oversees the Town’s LBTSEvents tourism site and assists with the content development for the Town’s government website.

Debbie also oversees Town’s special events and community programs, producing Christmas-By-The-Sea, Boo-By-The Sea and Fourth of July events. She also  manages other community events, including the popular Farmers Market, free yoga classes in El Prado Park and the Town’s free Sunday dance classes.

Additionally, Debbie facilitates requests and permitting for special events, park use permits for weddings and other private events, as well as on-location film permits.

Debbie manages the Pelican Hopper community shuttle and related projects with Broward County Transit, the Community Center, and also serves as the Town liaison with the Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Chamber of Commerce, Lodging Association, Town businesses and provides support for other departments and various Town projects.

Biography

Debbie’s varied career experience in tourism and destination marketing, hospitality, and live event management and marketing includes working with such nationally recognized companies such as PACE Entertainment (now Live Nation), Broadway Across America, Orange County Performing Arts Center and Skin Diver Magazine, where along the way she collaborated on national promotions with companies such as Coca-Cola, American Express, Wrangler Jeans, Miller Brewing Co. and Anheuser- Busch and Ticketmaster.

Previous to working for the Town, Debbie lived on St John, Virgin Islands, where she gained first-hand experience in hotel management and real estate administration. As Search Engine Marketing was becoming more prevalent, she augmented her previous marketing experience into years of online destination marketing, launching businesses onto the World Wide Web with website and search engine marketing, website creative and other online marketing initiatives.

An avid volunteer, Debbie is a member of the Fort Lauderdale Volunteer Leadership Council and Fort Lauderdale Downtown Rotary Volunteer Auxiliary. She is also a member of the Florida League of Cities’ Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA).
